It all started when my son wanted me to make a dinosaur cake for his 4th birthday (2011). Although it was a box cake mix and a star tip piped design, my son was beyond happy with his dinosaur cake. I was very proud of my creation, which gave me the confidence to continue. From there, the baking and creating never stopped. I dove into all the tutorials and articles I could find to improve my skills. The passion to learn, create, and bring joy to others was the foundation to what the future would hold.
After baking for many other birthdays and celebrations, I started up my home based bakery. I attended patisserie and hospitality courses to earn my associates degree and baking/pastry career certificate. Over the years, I continued to grow as a baker and small business owner, taking my business to 4 other states every time we moved due to the military. I participated in community events, donated to charities and organizations where I could, and honed the niche of decorated sugar cookies and custom cakes.
Being a small business owner on Guam has been the greatest building block and offered many opportunities. Blondie's was fortunate to have started a mobile bakery food truck, setting up shop at local events and celebrations. While the food truck venue had to come to an end, I'm still fully engaged in baking for Guam's local, military, and tourist communities. In addition to custom orders and seasonal pre-sales, we now offer cookie decorating classes that have quickly become a huge hit and are offered monthly.

Hi, I'm Katie! Originally from Utah, I served 7 years as an aviation mechanic in the US Navy. After working for several helicopter squadrons in Virginia and then deploying on the USS George H. W. Bush in 2011, I knew it was time to leave the Navy for a greater purpose. My love for aviation was hard to let go of however, being present for my small family at the time was my main focus.
Today I am married to an amazing (also Navy) husband and have 3 kids with one in college. We currently live on Guam where we have been stationed for over 4 years. This island has become a true home to us with it's welcoming community, beautiful land and laidback lifestyle.
As we prepare for many big life events happening next year, Blondie's will remain committed to serving the community of Guam. Our family has many changes ahead but in the meantime, I will continue to bake, create, and help others share sweet memories!
